Transparency: what OmniLab knows about you
OmniLab keeps what you write in tasks, and computes a few things about how you learn. All of it is yours: your teacher only ever sees class-level summaries with no names. You can delete your profile at any time, in one click.
Three separate things run in the background. Here they are, one at a time.
What the Socratic coach remembers
What it sees
- the task you are on, and what is expected to happen;
- your prediction and your reflection for this attempt;
- that attempt's score (how closely your prediction matched the real outcome);
- whether you have hit the same misconception on the same topic before — the count only, never what you wrote then.
What it does not see
Other students' work. Your attempts on other topics. Anything outside the platform.
Why it asks this particular question
Under every coach question there is a “Why this question?” bar. Open it and you see the exact signals behind it: your accuracy band, which misconception is recurring and for the how-manyth time, your hint level (0–3), and which model generated the answer. It is not an after-the-fact rationalisation — it is the decision itself, recorded at the moment it was made.
Before it reaches an AI
Names, emails and phone numbers in your text are automatically replaced with placeholders ([name], [email], [phone]) before anything is sent to a language model.
How long
Coach conversations are kept for 180 days, then deleted automatically.
What the Observer analyses
Once an attempt is scored, a background pass looks at how you reasoned, not just whether you were right.
What comes out of it
One rating out of four — mechanical, partial, causal, transfer — plus one plain-language sentence for you. Nothing else. No free text about you is stored.
Who sees it
- You — your own analyses.
- Your teacher — only the class distribution (“6 of 20 answers in this topic are mechanical”). No names, none of your text, never per-student.
- Nobody else.
If it is missing
A missing analysis is a normal state, not an error. Sometimes the analysis does not run, or fails — this never affects your score, your XP, or your coach in any way.
What the “How you learn” profile computes
From what
From numbers about your activity only — how many attempts you have made, how long they take on average, how many hints you use, how long your reflections are (the length, not the content), which labs you prefer, how regularly you review.
How
By formula — not by AI. The same numbers always give the same profile. Every computation is stamped with the formula version, so any profile can be traced back to exactly how it was produced. The language model never decides what kind of learner you are.
The only sentence written by a language model is the advice under your profile — and it is composed from the five ratings below alone, never from anything you wrote.

Plus a number saying how confident the estimate is, and how many attempts it rests on.
When it appears
After at least 10 scored attempts. Below that nothing is computed and nothing is stored — less than that is not enough to claim anything about you.
Confidence is never 100%
It caps at 95%, however many attempts you have. This is a behavioural estimate, not a fact about you, and it is not presented as one.
Who sees it
Only you. Not your teacher, not your classmates, not the school admin. (That is not a setting — there is simply no rule in the database granting anyone else that access.)
How to delete it
The “Reset this profile” button on your profile page. It is deleted immediately and completely. If you keep using the platform it will be recomputed from scratch on the next pass — you can delete it as often as you like.
Lines we do not cross
- No personality profiling. We do not assess character, mood, intelligence, or anything of that kind. Only how you work on these tasks.
- No free text about you. Everything we keep as a rating comes from a short, predefined list.
- Nothing is compared with other students. Your profile is for you alone.
- Your grades are unaffected. Neither the Observer nor the profile changes your XP, your scores, or your progress through topics. They describe; they do not decide.
- Your data disappears with your account. Delete your account and everything described here is deleted automatically along with it.
